Abstract

During a study of the fungi from a semi-arid region of northern Chile, a novel species of was encountered in the soil from an area where pepper trees () were growing. Marker genes were sequenced to identify these isolates. The β-tubulin, calmodulin and DNA-dependent RNA polymerase loci all indicated that this was a novel species in section and in the clade. The new species was studied morphologically and differences between it and the other members of the clade are described. We provide a name and description for these isolates as sp. nov.
