Abstract

Two actinomycete strains, IFM 0354 and IFM 0576, isolated from Japanese patients, were found to have morphological, biochemical and chemotaxonomic properties consistent with their classification in the genus . The strains resembled and in their phenotypic properties. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that the strains are closely related to . DNA–DNA relatedness values and phenotypic differences from indicated that the strains belong to a novel species of , for which the name sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is IFM 0354 (=NBRC 100430=JCM 12351=DSM 44804).
