Abstract

SUMMARY: C-labelled retinol, -C-ketone* and 4-hydroxy--C-ketone fed to mixed and cultures were efficiently incorporated into trisporic acids. This allowed the biosynthetic route from -carotene to these hormones to be set out, leaving some uncertainties as to the sequence of later steps in the process.
