Abstract

Ureaplasmas isolated from sheep and goats were compared by immunofluorescence with antisera prepared in calves and by PAGE of polypeptides labelled by growth in the presence of [S]methionine. The ovine and caprine strains constituted two groups defined by serology and polypeptide composition that were not related to the animal species from which they originated. Strains representing these two groups were compared with (human isolates) and (bovine isolates). They could not be classified with either but were more similar to the strains.
