Abstract

SUMMARY: Guinea-pig macrophages exerted bactericidal activity against both a virulent and a saprophytic strain of leptospira in the presence of the homologous IgG. Serum complement alone rendered the saprophytic strain susceptible to phagocytosis by the same macrophages.
