Abstract

SUMMARY

A dextranase-producing, aerobic Gram-negative bacterium closely related to has been isolated. The dextranase is attached to the outer membrane of the envelope. Dextran is required as an inducer in the culture medium; when grown on starch or gelatin, membrane-bound amylase and proteinase are synthesized adaptively.
