SUMMARY: Strains of Mucor pusillus and M. miehei were found to synthesize β-1,4-glucan glucanohydrolase (cellulase) in a complex medium. The inducible enzyme complex hydrolysed carboxymethylcellulose, acid-swollen cellulose and unmodified cellulose.
