The enzymes of the hydroaromatic pathway and those which subsequently break down protocatechuate are subject to a high degree of coordinate control. Two dehydroquinase isoenzymes exist. The isoenzyme induced by protocatechuate is required for growth on quinate but plays no role in the biosynthesis of aromatic compounds.", }
