Abstract

SUMMARY

A method for the quantitative isolation of pure highly polymerized DNA from , based on Kirby's phenol extraction procedure (Kirby, 1956, 1957), has been developed. No statistically significant differences were detected in the base composition or sequence between the DNA of a wild and a mutant strain of the organism. 6-Methyl-aminopurine was found in the DNA of The properties of this base and its N-nitroso derivative were compared with those of a synthetic sample.
