SUMMARY A modification of glucose cysteine blood agar (GCBA) is described for the cultivation of Pasteurella tularensis in which the blood is replaced by plasma and catalase. It has the advantage for colony counting of being clear, and is at least as good as GCBA for enumerating fastidious aged P. tularensis suspensions and aerosols. The liquid medium supports the growth of very small inocula.
