The Action of Lysozyme on Heat-killed Gram-positive Micro-orǵanisms Free

Abstract

Summary: The change in the Gram staining reaction which occurs when heat-killed Gram-positive and are incubated with lysozyme is due to the removal of the ribonucleic acid component of the Gram complex, and is brought about by the hydrolysis of certain sugar linkages in polysaccharides located at the cell surface.
