Abstract

SUMMARY: Morphological and physiological studies were made of 12 strains of the genus . Although inability to ferment carbohydrates has been reported characteristic of this genus, 10 of the strains produced acid from one or more carbohydrates. It is proposed that the genus be emended to include the new species .
