RT Journal Article SR Electronic(1) A1 Gally, David A1 Cooper, StephenYR 1993 T1 Peptidoglycan synthesis in Salmonella typhimurium 2616 JF Microbiology, VO 139 IS 7 SP 1469 OP 1476 DO https://doi.org/10.1099/00221287-139-7-1469 PB Microbiology Society, SN 1465-2080, AB Summary: HPLC analysis of peptidoglycan synthesis in Salmonella typhimurium strain 2616 has revealed that: (i) there is observable variation in the composition, but no significant variation in the overall degree of cross-linking, of newly synthesized peptidoglycan during the division cycle; (ii) the types of muropeptide that constitute peptidoglycan do not vary over a wide range of growth rates; and (iii) the composition and maturation kinetics of S. typhimurium peptidoglycan are, as expected, similar to those of Escherichia coli.
