Data from 120 unit characters were examined using the pattern and simple matching coefficients, and clustering was achieved using the unweighted pair group method with arithmetic averages algorithm. Most of the fodder isolates were recovered in two major clusters which were equated with taxospecies. Representatives of the numerically circumscribed species contained meso-diaminopimelic acid, arabinose and galactose, were rich in iso- and anteiso- fatty acids, exhibited tetrahydrogenated menaquinones with nine isoprene units as the predominant isoprenologue and gave similar polar lipid patterns. The chemical, morphological and numerical phenetic data indicated that the organisms belong to the genus Saccharopolyspora. It is proposed that the two novel taxa be given species status within the genus Saccharopolyspora as Saccharopolyspora gregorii sp. nov. and Saccharopolyspora hordei sp. nov.", }
