Mycoplasma-like Organisms from Plants with ‘Yellows’ Diseases Lack a Spiroplasma-specific Antigen Free

Abstract

An antigen which is specific to and was unaffected by changes in cell morphology was used to demonstrate the presence of spiroplasmas in diseased plant material. The same antigen could not be detected in plants infected with eight different ‘yellows’ diseases with which non-cultivable mycoplasma-like organisms were associated.
