Abstract

A UV endonuclease with activity towards UV-irradiated lambda DNA but no activity towards non-irradiated DNA was isolated from a crude lysate of the unicellular cyanobacterium PCC 6308. The enzyme has a molecular weight between 15000 and 18000. ATP was essential for maximum enzyme activity and the optimum pH was 7·5–7·8.
