The first generalization has been proposed ( Sneath, 1979 ) for use in identification; the second, mentioned by Sneath & Sokal (1973) , may be of considerable taxonomic use. Both generalizations when used on binary characters reduce to the original vigour and pattern coefficients, as proposed by Sneath (1968) .", }
