Cell-free extracts of organisms grown on ethylene glycol contained a diol dehydratase which required K+ or NH4 + for activity as well as coenzyme B12 (5′-deoxyadenosyl cobalamin). Ethylene glycol was not an intermediate in ethylene metabolism.", }
