Mitochondria prepared from Saccharomyces cerevisiae grown on low concentrations of glucose bound less carbodiimide than mitochondria from S. cerevisiae grown on high concentrations of glucose. This decreased binding could be prevented by including cycloheximide in the growth medium. These phenomena are discussed in terms of a possible mechanism of carbodiimide inhibition of energy-linked reactions.
