Effects of Catabolite Repression and Inhibitors of Protein Synthesis on the Mitochondrial Carbodiimide Binding Site in Free

Abstract

Mitochondria prepared from grown on low concentrations of glucose bound less carbodiimide than mitochondria from grown on high concentrations of glucose. This decreased binding could be prevented by including cycloheximide in the growth medium. These phenomena are discussed in terms of a possible mechanism of carbodiimide inhibition of energy-linked reactions.
