Abstract

Summary: Five mutants of and have been isolated which were impaired in their ability to grow on methanol. Two of these mutants lacked the enzyme triokinase, one contained lowered activities of fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase and two had unknown lesions. Revertants isolated with wild-type phenotype had regained the missing enzyme activities. The relationship of the mutant phenotypes to the proposed dihydroxy-acetone pathway for methanol assimilation is discussed.
