Infectious endocarditis caused by Open Access

Abstract

Introduction:

is a new member of the HACEK group (, , and ) of Gram‐negative bacteria.

Case presentation:

We report a case of bicuspid aortic valve subacute bacterial endocarditis in a 36‐year‐old man presenting as an acute myocardial infarction, and review the clinical features of endocarditis.

Conclusion:

Although rare, endocarditis appears to affect adult men with bicuspid aortic valves, and may be characterized by a high propensity for profound valvular destruction and embolic phenomena, necessitating prompt surgical intervention.
