The human strains showed a predominance of staphylococci in the main clinical categories, although strains causing primary urinary-tract infections in otherwise healthy women were nearly all allocated to Micrococcus subgroup 3. Organisms isolated from the fur and skin of farm and zoo animals were predominantly micrococci, 170 out of 263 strains being allocated to Micrococcus subgroup 5.
