It was shown that in oneof these strains (1) resistance to kanamycin and streptomycin was co-ordinately lost at highfrequency during nineserial screenings of resistant variants, (2) resistance toboth antibiotics could beco-transduced, and (3) in the transductants, resistance to these antibiotics was both linked and unstable,as in the donor strain.
