N-acetyl neuraminic acid and N-acetyl mannosamine also caused inhibition, suggesting a multiplicity of receptors on the epithelial cell. Congo-red binding of the strains correlated with their adhesive ability, whereas haemagglutination of rabbit erythrocytes by the bacteria did not., UL https://www.microbiologyresearch.org/content/journal/jmm/10.1099/00222615-36-6-403
