Abstract

SUMMARY

The number of viable units present in wet-weight suspensions of mycobacteria varied considerably. To compare the virulence of strains within the complex, standard inocula containing known numbers of viable units are therefore recommended. The preparation of standardised inocula and their use in virulence studies are described.
