A limited nucleotide sequence permutation, which is probably non-random, comprises about 2.7% of the genome (160 base pairs) and is considered to be the structural feature causing circularization and concatamerization. Evidence of an inverted terminal repetition observed by circularization of single stranded DNA was obtained by electron microscopy and S1 nuclease digestion. Estimates of the size of the terminal repeats varied from 60 to 380 base pairs. %U https://www.microbiologyresearch.org/content/journal/jgv/10.1099/0022-1317-40-1-33
