The stimulation of synthesis was shown to be due mainly to the synthesis of virus-specific proteins; the synthesis of host proteins was either unchanged or slightly enhanced. The level of functional polyribosomes in virus-infected cells was also increased as compared to that in mock-infected control while the number of free 80S ribosomes was proportionally decreased. %U https://www.microbiologyresearch.org/content/journal/jgv/10.1099/0022-1317-31-2-193
