Transfer of Pseudonocardia azurea and “Pseudonocardia fastidiosa” to the Genus Amycolatopsis, with Emended Species Description
More LessWe propose the transfer of Pseudonocardia azurea and “Pseudonocardia fastidiosa” to the genus Amycolatopsis as Amycolatopsis azurea (Omura et al.) comb. nov. and Amycolatopsis fastidiosa (ex Celmer et al.) sp. nov. based on the similarity of their morphological and chemotaxonomical properties to those of this genus: a cell wall composition of type IV, lack of mycolic acids, menaquinones MK-9(H2, H4), iso/anteiso-branched fatty acids, type II phospholipid pattern, and lack of budding. The type strain of A. azurea is DSM 43854T (NRRL 11412), and that of A. fastidiosa is DSM 43855T (ATCC 31181).

Classification of Seven Leptospira Water Strains by Classical Methods and Identification of Three New Serovars
More LessSix Leptospira strains isolated from surface water and one isolated from bovine urine were classified as members of Leptospira biflexa according to their antigenic and biological characteristics. Three new serovars were identified, for which we propose the names barbados, krefeldi, and neville. Serum sensitivity was tested for further biological characterization of the L. biflexa species.

Proposal to Retain Listeria murrayi and Listeria grayi in the Genus Listeria
More LessThe 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid oligonucleotide catalog of Listeria murrayi was found to be closely related (similarity coefficient, 0.73) to that of L. monocytogenes. These data, together with the phenotypic similarity found among all Listeria strains tested, provide no support for the exclusion of L. murrayi (and the closely related species L. grayi) from the genus Listeria.
