Four additional serotypes of Arizona bacteria were characterized antigenically and biochemically. They were 22 : 27 : 28a, 28b; 9a, 9b : 24: 30; 21 : 24: 28a, 28b; and 26a, 26b : 23 : 31. The first serotype was isolated from human feces; no information as to the source of the second was available. The third serotype was recovered from water from a tank in which turtles were kept, and the fourth was isolated from a stool specimen from a human.

Out of 308 faecal samples from apparently healthy pigs, 29 Salmonella strains comprising nine serotypes including a new one, Salmonella gokul, were isolated. The antigenic formula of S. gokul is 1, 51: d:- and the organism has been placed in Subgenus I on the basis of its biochemical behaviour. Further work on the characterization of this new serotype is suggested.

Three cultures of Corynebacterium vesiculare have been studied. They were found to be Gram - negative rods, motile by polar monotrichous flagella and with no action on carbohydrates. The name Pseudomonas vesiculare (Büsing et al.) comb. nov. is proposed for this organism, and ATCC 11426 is designated to be the type strain.

Emendation of Rule 9d Note (c) of the International Code of Nomenclature of Bacteria and Viruses is proposed to simplify and make definitive the method of accepting and designating neotype strains of species, subspecies, and infrasubspecific forms of bacteria.
