Abstract

A novel gliding, heterotrophic, Gram-negative, yellow–orange-pigmented, aerobic, oxidase- and catalase-positive bacterium, designated strain KMM 6151, was isolated from the Pacific red alga . Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the strain revealed that it formed a distinct lineage within the genus , family , with sequence similarities in the range 94.6–96.9 %. On the basis of phenotypic, genotypic and phylogenetic data, strain KMM 6151 represents a novel species of the genus , for which the name sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KMM 6151 (=KCTC 22021=LMG 23671).
