sp. nov. and sp. nov., isolated from greenhouse soils in Korea Free

Abstract

Two yellow-pigmented, Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterial strains, GH1-10 and GH29-5, were isolated from greenhouse soils in Korea. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that these strains were related to members of the genus . Strain GH1-10 was most closely related to and , with sequence similarities of 95.9 and 95.2 %, respectively. Strain GH29-5 was most closely related to ‘’, and , with sequence similarities of 94.3, 92.5 and 92.5 %, respectively. The major cellular fatty acids of GH1-10 were iso-C, summed feature 3 (iso-C 2-OH and/or C 7) and iso-C 3-OH, and those of GH29-5 were iso-C, iso-C 3-OH, iso-C G and iso-C 3-OH. Both strains contained menaquinone with six isoprene units (MK-6) as the sole quinone. The DNA G+C contents of GH1-10 and GH29-5 were 35 and 39 mol%, respectively. Based on the phylogenetic and phenotypic data presented, it is concluded that the two bacteria represent two separate novel species of the genus . The names proposed to accommodate these organisms are sp. nov., with type strain GH1-10 (=KACC 11422=DSM 17708), and sp. nov., with type strain GH29-5 (=KACC 11423=DSM 17707).
