Description of gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from freshwater, and transfer of to the genus as comb. nov. Free

Abstract

A Gram-reaction-negative, strictly aerobic, non-pigmented, non-gliding, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain BY4, was isolated from freshwater. Cells were catalase- and oxidase-positive and indole was produced. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain BY4 belonged to the family and showed 91.6–95.9 % sequence similarities to the most closely related strains. The major respiratory quinone was MK-6 and the major polar lipid was phosphatidylethanolamine. The major polyamine was homospermidine and the major fatty acids were iso-C, iso-C 3-OH and summed feature 3 (Cω7 and/or Cω6). The DNA G+C content was 30.0 mol%. On the basis of phenotypic, phylogenetic and genotypic features, strain BY4 is suggested to represent a novel species in a new genus within the family , for which the name gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of this type species is BY4 ( = CGMCC 1.12707 = JCM 19633). On the basis of data collected from previous and present studies, it is proposed to reclassify to the genus as the new combination comb. nov. (type strain NF 993 = CCUG 51536 = CIP 108861).
