Abstract

We previously discovered a symbiotic lactic acid bacterial (LAB) microbiota in the honey stomach of the honeybee . The microbiota was composed of several phylotypes of and . 16S rRNA gene sequence analyses and phenotypic and genetic characteristics revealed that the phylotypes isolated represent seven novel species. One grouped with and the others belong to the and subgroups of . We propose the names sp. nov., sp. nov., sp. nov., sp. nov., sp. nov., sp. nov. and sp. nov. for these novel species, with the respective type strains being Fhon13N ( = DSM 26257 = CCUG 63287), Bin4N ( = DSM 26254 = CCUG 63291), Hon2N ( = DSM 26255 = CCUG 63289), Hma8N ( = DSM 26256 = CCUG 63629), Hma2N ( = DSM 26263 = CCUG 63633), Bma5N ( = DSM 26265 = CCUG 63301) and Biut2N ( = DSM 26262 = CCUG 63631).
