One genospecies contained 165 strains and included the type strain of Brochothrix thermosphacta. The other genospecies (five strains) represented a new species, for which the name Brochothrix campestris sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is strain S3 (= CIP 102920 = ATCC 43754).
