Abstract

BASwas compared with CD2and was found to be identical in all morphological and biochemical characteristics. The description of the genus is emended as originally described by I. M. Robinson and A. E. Ritchie (Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol. 31:333-338, 1981) to include anaerobic, gram-negative, straight to slightly curved rods that produce mainly acetic acid, ethanol, H and CO and that are motile by means of a single flagellum or multiple flagella.
