Strain ATCC 27377 has been rejected as the type strain of by the Judicial Commission of the International Committee on Systematic Bacteriology but is conserved with the description of Metchnikoff 1888, as amended by Starr et al. 1983, serving as type. The Judicial Commission declined to give an opinion on the taxonomic position of strain ATCC 27377 because that is a question of taxonomy rather than nomenclature.
