The key characteristics of this species are gray spore mass color, spiral spore chains, and hairy spores. When simultaneous laboratory comparisons were made with cultures of similar Streptomyces species, the new isolate differed from them significantly. The type strain of S. capillispiralis is A49492 (= NRRL 12279). A separate paper dealing with the carboxymethyl esterase of this organism will be published in the future.", }
