They could be placed into four serovars that fit well with group separations based upon cultural, biochemical, and biophysical properties. Hyperimmune sera prepared against a strain representing each serovar showed no cross-species interaction when tested with antigens of several known aerobic bovine mycoplasma and acholeplasma strains.
