Abstract

Forty strains that conform closely to the original description of Hauduroy et al. have been studied, and previously undescribed characteristics of this organism are presented. Because of their metabolic activity, these organisms are members of the genus as presently defined. Strain ATCC 27768 (= VPI C13-51) is designated as the neotype strain of (Hauduroy et al.) Moore and Holdeman.
