Abstract

An amended description of Micrococcus luteus (Schroeter 1872) Cohn 1872, at present abroad-based species characterized primarily on negative characteristics, is proposed on the basis of a taxonomic analysis of 30 strains. CCM 169 (= ATCC 4698) is designated as the neotype strain of M. luteus.
