Subgroup on taxonomy of microaerophilic actinomycetes

A report of a working group of the Subcommittee on Taxonomy of the Actinomycetales of the International Committee on Nomenclature of Bacteria (ICNB). The group has been primarily concerned with recognition of type strains or other reference strains for the species of Actinomyces and with standardization of techniques for the study of the genus. Eleven species of Actinomyces or closely related organisms have been distributed and studied following techniques detailed in a “Manual of Procedures” which is included in the report.
