The only strain which has been proposed for designation is ATCC 398. The genus Micrococcus has not yet been clearly distinguished from Staphylococcus . The capacity to grow anaerobically at the expense of glucose fermentation shows a gradual transition in a series of strains and lacks precision as a criterion for differentiation between these two genera. %U https://www.microbiologyresearch.org/content/journal/ijsem/10.1099/00207713-17-3-231
